Humans use their ability to strategize in order to overcome more physically powerful animals competing for food. That humans have used their cogitative abilities to evolutional advantage means that the reptilian impulse - in its literal sense , while influential, is not the evolutionary impulse

The reptilian impulse is one of survival in competition. Some of the wisest humans have commented on the connection between competition and collaboration. How does the reptilian impulse use information?

The question is important because of all animals, we humans generally consider ourselves in some regard the wisest - certainly the most able to interact with and transform our environment at large scale, including the ability to out reptile all reptiles that have ever walked, crawled, slithered, swum or glided in Earth's biosphere. If we believe that this is because of our powers of mental dexterity, and I think rightly we do, then the Reptilian Paradox arises:

… that we cannot understand the evolutionary impulse (the Reptilian Mind) as simply the director of brute force over others physically or economically ...

simply because humans have used their ability to duplicate in their surroundings, ideas that enable overpowering others who could not have been overcome without the rather complex constructions of weapons and defenses.
